Bringing Arts Express to your School

Principals, Parents or Teachers interested in offering extra curricular classes or curriculum based workshops at their school can request an information package by contacting our head office at 416-239-3093 or send us an email. Some frequently asked questions are listed below.

How do I bring Arts Express to my school?

  1. Choose a room in the school that has enough space for the children to move around in. Libraries,  music rooms and classrooms all work well.
  2. Choose a day of the week and either lunch time or after school, depending on your school’s schedule.
  3. Choose a day for Arts Express to briefly visit each class and distribute registration forms.
  4. Arts Express will collect the registration forms from your office after the deadline and contact all of the parents who registered.

How many children are in each class?
Arts Express classes have a maximum of twenty students per teacher and a minimum of eight. If we do not receive eight registrations we will contact the parents and return their payments.

When do the classes take place?
Students go directly to the Arts Express classroom after the lunch or end of day bell where the Arts Express teacher will meet them.

Who are the teachers of Arts Express?
Each class will be taught by a qualified instructor who has specialized training in teaching and experience working in the arts. All of our teachers have completed a police background check and carry OESC identification cards.

What is the cost of the classes?
Sessions typically run for nine consecutive weeks. The nine week session will cost parents $125.00 for the 1.5 hour after school classes and $110.00 for the one hour lunchtime classes. These fees are paid to Arts Express upon registration.

What about safety?
Each Arts Express class begins with attendance. If a child is absent from an after school class and we have not received advance notice, the teacher will call the student’s home from their cell phone. If there is no answer the teacher will then call their supervisor. The supervisor will then call the home, work and emergency numbers until they can determine that the child is safe.
Parents are required to provide a list of people who are authorized to pick up their child after class. Children will not be released to anyone who is not on the list without written permission. The teacher will wait until all children have been picked up.

What are the benefits of drama and dance to the student?
The Arts Express curriculum allows for the students to learn skills that are not only an integral part of acting and drama but are also part of living a successful and happy life. Students learn the importance of confidence, teamwork and participation. This is extremely important in our high tech, mass media age where children are frequently involved in sedentary activities that require little imagination and often no direct participation. Imaginative play allows children to become active users rather then passive recipients of experience. Through the exploration of drama and dance, participants are given an opportunity to explore and create within themselves.

Does Arts Express carry private insurance?
Arts Express has coverage for 5 million dollars liability through State Farm Insurance.

Does Arts Express require a permit from the board?
Arts Express will obtain a permit at the Principal’s request.

What is the philosophy of Arts Express?
It is the philosophy of Arts Express to be process oriented in our approach to arts education. Arts Express aims to create a supportive and nurturing environment that is geared toward building self confidence in young people.
